Product Description
Pirates and Cannibals
On the surface, the Cook Islands are just another Pacific island paradise. But beneath the surface, you find a colourful history. Some islands are known to have had a cannibalistic past. Other islands are rumoured to hide forgotten pirate treasure. And this is the place where the famous Mutiny on the Bounty took place.
Join Up for a Reality Show
Reality TV show producers recently discovered the Cook Islands. Two series of Shipwrecked and one Survivor series were filmed in the Cook Islands - all three were filmed on the island that is deemed to be one of the most beautiful in the whole Pacific!
Fly for Real in Tropical Paradise
Whether you explore the ancient volcanoes and volcanic rock formations of the southern islands, discover the picturesque lagoons of the northern atolls, are here for a good bout of island hopping, or just want to bring your brolly, slap on some sunscreen and relax on one of the stunning beaches, every single flight in the Cook Islands is exotic and as close to the real thing as possible - that is our promise!
Fly for Real in Tropical Paradise
The Cook Islands are a small and remote island group in the Pacific Ocean. Unlike some of the neighbouring island groups (Fiji and Tahiti), the Cook Islands are still spared from mass tourism and are one of the “insider” locations in the Pacific. The group of 15 different islands is distributed over an area the size of Alaska. The island group features two national parks and several protected areas. You can't get much more remote and wild, untamed nature than some of the spots in the Cook Islands.
Explore the Volcanoes
The southern islands were formed by ancient volcanoes. The high resolution mesh in this scenery let's you experience rugged volcanic rock formations and makes the islands look very real. The highest peak is Te Manga, topping 652 m on Rarotonga. No freeware SRTM mesh can even come close to what the mesh in this scenery offers.
Discover the Atoll Rings
The northern islands are formed by atoll rings, with emerald lagoons surrounded by gorgeous beaches. The island group even features one of the largest atolls in the Pacific! The topography in this scenery brings the atolls to life. You will find realistic natural coastlines and beaches and little islets in the middle of the atolls just like in real life.
This scenery add-on lets you experience the Cook Islands almost like you could in real life. You have the freedom to explore the Cooks without ever visiting - this is the next best thing to visiting for real.
Fly Over Real Terrain
This scenery includes a 40 m mesh, which makes the islands much more rugged and realistic. Rarotanga now stands out as a real volcanic island as do the other islands of volcanic origin. You can see cliffs and rock formations just as they appear in real life. You also get a realistic land cover and perfect water colours. You can now explore native villages which were completely missing in the default. You can see native bush, swamps, and farmland.
Enjoy Real Beaches
We provide you with realistic coastlines in all detail with little bays and inlets. Each island is realistically surrounded by the bright colours of the coral reefs. We've made sure that the beach scenery in the Cook Islands looks just like the real life ones! In addition to realistic beaches, you also get all the small islands that were omitted from the default scenery. Now you can enjoy realistically shaped atoll rings that are formed from little islands and also see little islets in the lagoons.
Follow the Real Roads
You get the same attention to detail inland. Now you can explore the real road network on each island. Most of the roads are coral white, just like in the real world. You will also see accurate lakes and rivers. All of this detail adds immensely to the feeling of actually being there. On top of all of this, you will find various 3D objects, such as native huts, hotel complexes, and churches distributed around the island.
Land on 11 Airstrips
Now you can fly to all of the 11 airports that exist in real life, including the two decommissioned ones. All airports are at their correct location and have their layout modeled after their real life counterparts. Most of the strips are bush strips which will welcome the adventurous pilot. The two bigger airports also have been reconstructed to include much more realistic layout and services.
Fly the Adventure
To make the Cook Islands experience even more realistic, you can choose from four weather scenarios. These include dominant and typical weather patterns, such as easterly trade winds and even a cyclone scenario. You can also fly seven individual flight plans which allow you to recreate a real-life flying experience in the Cooks. The flight plans include exciting real-life scenarios, such as black pearl farming, treasure hunting, and search and rescue after a cyclone disaster.
